Leslie Pope ("Pimp") Obituary

Nashville, Tennessee - Leslie Dewayne Pope, affectionately known as "Pimp," was born on December 5, 1956, in Springfield, Tennessee, to the late Earl Matthews Pope and Mildred Lucille Pope. On April 10, 2026, God called him home.

Leslie was truly one of a kind. He was an amazing artist, a poet, and a gifted lyricist whose creativity spoke for itself. He had a light about him that people were naturally drawn to. He was funny, full of life, loved to dance, and knew how to bring joy, laughter, and his own special energy wherever he went. He was deeply loved throughout his city, and many knew him affectionately as Dad, Unk, and by other names that reflected just how much he meant to the people around him.

Leslie also served his country in the United States Army, and the impact he made on the lives of others will not be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Matthews Pope and Mildred Lucille Pope; his brothers, Albert Pope and Willie Pope; and his sisters, Earlene Pope and Annie Carolyn Gibson ("Kat").

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Terrance "Teddy Wayne" Lunsford (Aalia); his devoted sister, Vivian D. Williams-Pope; his brother, Keith Dowlen; his granddaughter, LaJayda Ellis (Tyuss); along with a host of loving nieces and nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and dear friends.

Leslie leaves behind love, laughter, and memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will never be forgotten.

Family Visitation and Memorial Service were held April 17, 2026 at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip Townsend, Officiant; Reverend Phillip Townsend, Officiant.
