Cross Plains, TN - Richard M. Gibbs, age 94, of Cross Plains passed away quietly at home, Sunday morning, October 19, 2025. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 12pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Goodlettsville. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of service with burial following at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Richard was born April 10, 1931 in Springfield, TN. His surviving family includes his sister Cecelia Pratt of White House, daughters Cheryl (Bill) Binkley of Alexandria VA, Yolanda (Joe) Reid of White House, Farah (Mark) Cook and Dawn Gibbs of Springfield, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his wife Ruth Brown Gibbs, son Anthony Gibbs, grandson Travis Cook and great-granddaughter Malia Head. He was the last living son of George F. Gibbs and Lillie Troutt Gibbs of Springfield.

Richard was a US Navy veteran and a 32nd degree Mason. He worked 15 years at AVCO as a machinist, and with Dupont for 25 years, retiring in 1990. He was a woodworker, building his own home and various pieces for family and friends; raised cows; back yard mechanic restoring cars with his son.
